Looking for some good VPN extensions that are free with Firefox. Anyone know any?
Free VPNs are never good. They usually make money by selling your data, which is worse than just not using the VPN. However, some “free” VPNs suggestion I can gave right now are ProtonVPN, and Windscribe.
If you ever, however, want to go paid, go with ProtonVPN or Mullvad.
I use the windows version, not the extension, so not sure how reliable the extension is, but you could try ProtonVPN. It’s the only free VPN I know of that is funded by the premium users.
The Urban VPN extension has by far the most amount of country servers available for a free VPN.
I was looking to mimic Opera’s free internal VPN on Firefox with extensions, and was unable to with one that I trusted.
Then, I found a free global VPN from cloudflare 1.1.1.1 as seen here.
I tend to use that over the Google One global VPN that I get as part of my 1 TB subscription with them.
I believe 1.1.1.1 has a tighter data privacy retention policy which appealed to me more.
I tried Nord once and it just stopped working for some reason. Then I went to delete it and it wouldn’t get off my laptop. So I had to do a work around it was a huge hassle.
Psiphon is also great, and has more servers.

Didn’t Google One retire their VPN recently?
Not free though. Free VPNs have no incentive to protect your privacy.
Not everything is NordVPN. Try one of them I mentioned.
Concern about ISP but not about sending all your traffic to some nasty company? They are not non-profit and they for sure sell those data.only free vpn i could trust is proton vpn. No vpn at all > free vpn
Wow, thanks for the heads up! I didn’t know that. I see that it’s still available for my Pixel 7 Pro, newer Pixels and Google Fi wireless phones.
At least I’ll have one less app on my PC now!
I will it’s just that experience made me nervous lol
I been using ProtonVPN and Mullvad both for over two years now. Both have been great on all my devices. I came from using Airvpn, GhostVPN, PIA and ExpressVPN ( tested a few others as well ) but none came close to Proton and Mullvad.
Using free VPN is dangerous as your data is not private and sold to data brokers. Your logs will easily be given up in the court of law.
you can try Windscribe VPN.
Be careful what you wish for…
