Did SurfSharsk raise it’s prices?
I took a long time being indecisive and shopping around. SF let me use it on one device a couple3 days after it expired. I finally decided to renew… and was told it would cost $3.99 / month (for a 2 year subscription).
I checked some of the coupon sites and the price had gone up there as well (although there were deals for slightly less).
So I signed up with ProtonVPN instead. Happy I did. With the 30 day money-back guarantees I could have tried something else anyway, but the idea of paying the same for the budget option was the motivation I needed.
Years back they, SF, told me to let subscription expire, then to subscribe again to get first time pricing.
It is more now for first time. Used to be $52ish US. It’s about $63ish now.
Check through TopCashback. They offer anything from 40-120% cashback depending on the day.
I recently signed up for 2 years with 4 months free (I know it’s gimmicks), so 28 months for £55. So £2 a month (2.40 dollars), which seems pretty cheap to me.
I wouldn’t call SS being a “budget VPN” as it is in the top with Express and Nord and can handle its own. Each offer unique things about them, it’s what you want, and need, that will drive where you go.
I’ve been a happy SS user for over 3+ years
Just make sure if you want to port forward because SS doesn’t allow that it has pros and cons.
For me the price went up 2 days ago.
edit - I just check it without cookies - $2.49
Logged in - $2.49.
Weird. But ya, SF tried to soak me for $3.99 / month when I tried to renew.
I guess that was some kinda “punishment pricing”.
Thanks for your feedback, we’re happy to hear that you’re enjoying Surfshark overall!
In England you seem to get punished for being loyal customers with everything from energy companies, broadband, mobile and insurance etc.
I guess the theory is “I’ve already got you”? I’m always having to shop around and swap when contracts are coming up for renewal, it’s a pain in the arse to be honest.
Ah! So, clear cookies, sign in, better price still, correct?
Yeah, I see a lot of that. To get the best price you often have to switch.
I wouldn’t think so. The price to renew hasn’t typically been as low as the price to sign up (with deals).
And why would cookies matter if I’m signing in anyway?
IDK, Dude. Your post made it sound like clearing cookies got you back to the lower price; as if it was giving you a first time user price.
My bad.
I didn’t actually clear cookies, I checked the price using the epic web browser. Even if it didn’t clear cookies on exit, I had never gone to the SS shark on that browser before.
When I saw that price, I logged in via Firefox, and saw that it was now offering me the same price.
