I use this site to find the best vpn http://www.vpnprosguide.com

What is advertised is the VPN service which has been exceptional, rock solid, and has never failed me in all the years I have used it - and the best price around to top it off.

I, and anyone else that understands how important a VPN connection is, don’t rely on some “app” to configure and maintain it. We do it ourselves. We take responsibility for our own system security.

Look, I’m not defending their app. I don’t use it. Never have, never will. If you say it’s crap, then maybe it is… doesn’t matter. It has no impact on the actual VPN service being provided.

If you feel you must have a better app for your VPN, then go to any of the other providers who offer one… you’ll be paying more, but at least you’ll have your “app”. Enjoy.

But none other than Mullvad that are safe to use.

PIA gave up on geohopping over five years ago, probably closer to ten. All that time other VPNs continued to work. SurfShark currently works flawlessly for all the popular streaming services. PIA doesn’t.

Downvoters: I’ve been with PIA for nearly a decade. I was here years ago when they publicly announced they would no longer attempt to keep up with streaming providers’ countermeasures. I regularly use SurfShark to stream Netflix in Canada from the UK and the US. It also works perfectly with BBC iPlayer. Even though PIA recently added a “streaming” server for London, it fails completely with Netflix and only occasionally works for iPlayer. PIA is fine for protecting you in hotels or hotspots, but if you want to stream from other countries find something else.

That’s good! What protocol?

I’ve been able to hit 1300mbps using WireGaurd on PIA

one of the only providers I could get a router based wireguard tunnel working on, and it was only like 2USD/month.

That is actually extremely slow. Just ran a speedtest.net pass in the browser at it is ~850 down and 1,100 up at the moment. That is just using PIA app in Windows with wireguard, not doing anything fancy.

Testing on wifi is meaningless in regards to the speed of the service, you are just testing your wifi connection at the moment as that is always the bottleneck.

But SurfShark keeps the connection logs!

Edit: To the idiots who keep downvoting me go and read their ToS: Surfshark Terms Of Service

To prevent service abuse, our servers store your user ID and/or IP address, and connection time stamps, but this information is automatically deleted within 15 minutes after termination of your session.

I feel like more money has gone into marketing recently, just seen people who never previously sponsored get sponsored in the past few months

Yeah it works perfectly on windows but I have a 8 year old MacBook and it is broken. As OP mentioned about the lacking development on mac

Here’s a sneak peek of /r/VPN using the top posts of the year!

#1: Americans of r/VPN, the US Congress has proposed a law (RESTRICT Act) that could criminalize VPN use with a 20-year prison sentence or million-dollar fine. If you value your online freedom, contact your federal representatives and let them know we won’t stand for this!

The most important feature for us is location cloaking. Euro expat in US watching lots of German (Germany, Austria, N Switzerland) programming, free on demand on their mediathek) some French, and UK stuff, Nord has been great for the last 2 years. Good streaming with no hiccups. Sometimes for UK, just close, change servers, and you are good to go. I hear good things about surfshark too. Any vpn, check the list of Countries where they have servers first.

Ah, I just use thr beta for that. Works great, no issue for me.

I’m going to upvote you to make you look like a spammer! Lol!

Not every compliment is a spambot, tho.

What is advertised is a vpn service which is easy to use by the masses of people out there. We’re all very proud that you can configure a vpn on your home router or whatever advanced setup it is that you have, here’s a cookie. i don’t use the app either, that said the service advertises the app as much as it does the vpn connection. A large portion of the user base however relies on the app, despite your pompous assumptions.

Wireguard. Wow on 1300mbps. I swear I tried both OVPN and Wireguard on my PC before and never got anything above 400mbps. What platform were you on?

Stop with the misinformation.

The comment didn’t have any links, but was super suspicious. Why would it have so many upvotes when my OP was buried after months of no activity?

The fact that OC was deleted tells you it’s likely some spambot that was banned/caught later.
